Advances in Accounting, Finance and Economics is the official, online, refereed journal of the Academy of Accounting, Finance and Economics. Unsolicited manuscripts are accepted through our website, but the authors of unsolicited manuscripts must provide evidence of previous public exposure of their work in some sort of critical venue. Papers presented at AAFE’s annual meeting pass that requirement. Previous publication of research in a meeting proceedings does not preclude submission to Advances.
The purpose of Advances is promote quality research and writing in the disciplines of accounting, finance and economics. Papers covering instructional development, applied research, and basic research are welcomed. Interdisciplinary papers are especially welcome.

1. We believe that it is vital for the intellectually active researcher to receive feedback on their research product during the process of working towards a completed research project.
2. We believe that defending one's research project to one's colleagues is a critically important step in the development of a completed research project.
3. We believe that research-in-process should be made available in venues that provide for the broad dissemination of the work and that bring it to the attention of those in the field with an interest. Publication in the Academy's proceedings or other similar outlets provides such dissemination. Such dissemination is in important step on the way to a completed research project, not necessarily the end of the project.
4. We believe the feedback received as a result of publicly presenting a research project to colleagues results in a higher quality research project.
5. We believe that submitting a research paper to a critical, peer review process is the final step in determining the merit of the project and whether it is worthy of publication in an academic journal.
6. We believe that publication of the research project in an academic journal should expand the boundaries of knowledge (basic research), initiate improvement in the practice of accounting, finance or economics (applied research), or improve the quality of teaching and learning in higher education (instructional development). Ideally the published research provides a point of departure for other research efforts.
7. Accordingly, the Academy of Accounting, Finance and Economics solicits and encourages the presentation of research efforts in-process for presentation at its annual meeting or other similar venues. We encourage the publication of the research project in the proceedings, and at the authors’ discretion, the submission of the research project to the review process for consideration for inclusion in the Academy's referred journal, Advances in Accounting, Finance, and Economics (Advances)
